Sturgeon

There are twenty different types of known sturgeon species. The sturgeon is one of the oldest genera of fish living today. It is native to Europe, Asia and North America. The sturgeon is a bottom feeder, with a projecting wedgelike snout which it uses to stir up the bottom of the waters it calls home, and detects shells, crustaceans and small fish by sensitive barbells on its snout. The sturgeon cannot catch larger prey as it does not have any teeth.

There are a variety of sturgeon species which include the common sturgeon, Russian surgeon (Russian Caviar), Starry sturgeon, Lake Sturgeon, and Beluga sturgeon. There are a variety of other sturgeon species but the above are the most common types.
